Italiano — Comparison of equality
To say that two things are equal, Italian uses (così)…come and (tanto)…quanto: Marco è (così) alto come Luca, Ho tanti libri quanti quaderni.
How it works
With adjectives and adverbs use (così)…come or (tanto)…quanto around the quality: Anna è (così) gentile come te, Corre (tanto) velocemente quanto me. With nouns only (tanto)…quanto works, and tanto/quanto agree in gender and number with the noun: Ho tanti amici quanti nemici, Ha tanta pazienza quanta fortuna. The words così and tanto are optional and often dropped.

Good to know
After come and quanto a pronoun takes the stressed form: Sono alto quanto te (not quanto tu), È gentile come me (not come io). Note the difference from the comparison of inequality, which uses più/meno … di or che: Marco è più alto di Luca is 'taller than', not 'as tall as'.
