Italiano — -isco verbs
Many -ire verbs insert -isc- in the present tense. finire (to finish) becomes finisco, not "fino".
1
How it works
✓ Rule
The infix -isc- is added in all singular forms and in the third person plural; noi and voi keep the plain endings. So finire gives finisco, finisci, finisce, finiamo, finite, finiscono.

Examples
| Pronoun | finire (to finish) | capire (to understand) |
|---|---|---|
| io | finisco | capisco |
| tu | finisci | capisci |
| lui/lei | finisce | capisce |
| noi | finiamo | capiamo |
| voi | finite | capite |

⚠ Note
Not every -ire verb takes -isc-: dormire and partire are regular (dormo, parto). Common -isc- verbs include capire, preferire (preferisco) and pulire (pulisco); there is no rule, so learn each verb's type.
