An adjective before a noun takes an ending that depends on case, gender, number and the article type — weak (after the definite article der/die/das), mixed (after ein/kein/mein), or strong (with no article).

Good to know

⚠ Note

The adjective takes no ending when it stands after the noun: Der Mann ist gut. After ein-words the endings are the mixed type: ein guter Mann, eine gute Frau, ein gutes Kind.
