Polski — Multiple negation
In Polish, negative words like nikt, nic, nigdy do not cancel out the verb's negation — they require it. Both the negative word and nie appear together: nikt nic nigdy nie mówi.
1
How it works
✓ Rule
Every negative pronoun or adverb obligatorily takes nie before the verb. You may pile up several of them and still use only one nie: nikt nic nigdy nie mówi ("nobody ever says anything"), niczego nie widzę ("I see nothing").

Examples
| Negative word | Meaning | Sentence with nie |
|---|---|---|
| nikt | nobody | Nikt nie przyszedł. |
| nic | nothing | Nic nie rozumiem. |
| niczego | nothing (gen.) | Niczego nie widzę. |
| nigdy | never | Nigdy nie kłamię. |
| nigdzie | nowhere | Nigdzie nie idę. |
| żaden | no / none | Żaden sklep nie jest otwarty. |
| nikt nic nigdy | nobody ever anything | Nikt nic nigdy nie mówi. |

⚠ Note
Do not drop nie thinking the negative word is "enough" — that is the most common learner error. *Nikt przyszedł is wrong; it must be nikt nie przyszedł. Also note that after negation a direct object usually switches to the genitive: widzę coś but niczego nie widzę.
