Adverbs say how an action happens. Most come from an adjective + -ly.

How it works
✓ Rule
Most adverbs = adjective + -ly: quick → quickly, careful → carefully. A final consonant + y becomes -ily: happy → happily. They tell you how: She sings beautifully.

Good to know
⚠ Note
good is irregular → well. Some words are the same as adjective and adverb: fast, hard, late, early. Careful: hardly means “barely” and lately means “recently”, not “hard/late”.
