Français — Feminine of adjectives
As a rule the feminine adds -e, but many endings transform: -eux becomes -euse (heureux → heureuse), -f becomes -ve (neuf → neuve), and some adjectives double the final consonant (bon → bonne).
1
How it works
✓ Rule
Change the masculine ending according to its pattern: -eux → -euse (sérieux → sérieuse), -er → -ère (premier → première), -eur → -euse (menteur → menteuse), -f → -ve (sportif → sportive). If the masculine already ends in -e, the feminine stays the same (rouge → rouge).

Good to know
⚠ Note
Not every consonant is doubled: gris → grise and grand → grande take only -e. Watch the irregulars that change the stem: blanc → blanche, sec → sèche, long → longue, and beau/bel → belle.
