Italiano — The relative pronoun cui
cui is an invariable relative pronoun. It is used after a preposition (a cui, di cui, in cui) and, with the article, to mean 'whose' (il cui, la cui).

How it works
✓ Rule
After a preposition, Italian uses cui, not che: il libro di cui parlo, la città in cui vivo, l'amico con cui esco. The form cui never changes. To express possession ('whose'), place article + cui before the noun, agreeing with the thing possessed: lo scrittore il cui libro amo, la casa i cui muri sono bianchi.

⚠ Note
Never use che after a preposition: *il libro che parlo* is wrong — say il libro di cui parlo. In il cui / la cui, the article agrees with the following noun (the thing owned), not with the owner: la ragazza il cui padre è medico (padre is masculine, so il cui).
