English — personal pronouns

English pronouns come in two sets: subject pronouns before the verb, object pronouns after it or after a preposition.

How it works

✓ Rule

Use a subject pronoun before the verb and an object pronoun after it: I see him. He sees me. After a preposition, use the object form: with her, for us.

Good to know

⚠ Note

you and it look the same in both columns. Don't confuse object pronouns with possessives (my, your, his…): That's her book vs I saw her.
